The Opportunity

Responsible for the risk management oversight of a portfolio of clients trading across strategies and asset classes. Contribution to regulatory reporting processes (including Short Selling Regulation, Large Shareholding Reporting, Market Abuse Monitoring, Annex IV). The Risk Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the clients’ risk management framework. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

To qualify for the role you must have:

 

  • Educated to degree level in a related discipline (e.g.: Risk Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Banking, etc.) or relevant professional qualification (e.g.: Investment Management, Law, Compliance, etc.) also welcome
  • At least three years’ relevant experience with a solid understanding of financial instruments, hedge fund strategies and operations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Bloomberg
  • Proven experience in risk management, preferably in a similar role within the financial services industry Experience with using Power BI would be considered an asset

 

 

Skills and attributes for success:

  • Risk and operational oversight of clients' portfolio to be performed in accordance with industry
  • standards and regulatory principles, (predominantly MiFID and AIFMD).
  • Deep understanding of the risk metrics produced by the client firm to enable independent risk management, verification and oversight of the client’s activity.
  • Monitoring of client trading activity and investment limits to ensure compliance with risk and investment guidelines and limits including identifying trends, timely escalation of breaches and communication of the ongoing monitoring performed on trading books.
  • Internal and external reporting of risk statistics, exposures, controls and regulatory data, ensuring that these tasks are completed within specific deadlines.
  • Continuous evaluation of processes and procedures to identify further efficiencies, make recommendations for improvements, and obtain stakeholder buy-in, and implement improvements.
  • Perform other ad-hoc work/special projects as necessary
  • Prepare and present regular risk reports to senior management and relevant stakeholders, highlighting key risk exposures, trends, and mitigation activities.
  • Develop and maintain risk management policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistency and effectiveness in risk management practices.
  • Supervision, mentoring and training of junior team members.
