The PMO (Project Management Office) Director is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the project management organization to ensure efficient and successful delivery of internal and external projects.

This role involves establishing project management standards, creating and implementing training programs, growing and scaling a project management team, and liaising across the organization to ensure operational excellence and client satisfaction across the Project and Resource Management Organization (PRMO). This role will be based out of one of our office locations, (Pittsburgh, PA, Portland, ME, or NYC (Grand Central Tower). You will work on a hybrid schedule with two days per week in the office.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Hire, lead, grow, and scale a team of project managers utilizing best-in-class project management methodologies, techniques, governance, and processes
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (commercial teams on sales pipeline, resource managers on staffing, and enterprise technology teams on developing and enhancing technology and automation) to optimize PRMO workflows and reporting
  • Develop and train teams on written standard operating procedures in conjunction with cross-functional teams and initiatives to ensure enterprise-wide success and client satisfaction
  • Roll out project management processes over time, across professional services business units
  • Identify skill and process gaps within the project management teams and recommend changes to PRMO Leadership to optimize PRMO-related workflows
  • Set performance targets and conduct reviews for direct reports.
  • Manage budget, costs, deliverables, and other related metrics within projects and project manager teams, including project profitability and adherence to contractual requirements
  • Directly supervise teams of project managers responsible for the successful delivery of professional services engagements
  • Actively participate in strategic planning exercises for the rollout of the PRMO project management and corresponding communications, reporting, and change management

 

To Qualify for the role, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Operations, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience within a Project Management Organization or equivalent experience
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills to cultivate and maintain relationships with project managers, teams, vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and software; familiarity with Certinia PS Cloud (PSA) strongly preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Deep understanding of operational systems, technology adoption, and process improvement
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

 

 

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Master’s Degree in a related field
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP)® or equivalent certification
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Proven experience managing high-value and complex projects in a governance, risk, and compliance consulting environment
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Conga CLM, and/or Salesforce CPQ
  • Financial Industry experience is a plus

  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams such as revenue, accounts receivable, enterprise solutions & development, FP&A, services delivery, legal, product, etc.
  • Experience developing and implementing training programs and standards
  • Experience managing onshore, offshore, and remote teams, including in a supervisory capacity
