Position Summary

The Senior Director of Accounts Receivable Operations is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all billing and collection operations within the organization. This position ensures efficient management of billing and collections cycle processes, drives continuous improvement, and maintains compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Senior Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams, implement best practices, and lead a high-performing department dedicated to optimizing cash flow and minimizing account receivable risk.

 

Job Duties

  • Lead, manage, and develop the billing and collections department, including 25-30 managers and staff, to achieve organizational goals
  • Design and execute strategies to improve billing accuracy, reduce days sales outstanding (DSO), and maximize collections
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess departmental effectiveness and drive improvements
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies related to billing and collections
  • Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Customer Service, and other departments to resolve billing issues and enhance customer experience
  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of billing and collection systems, processes, and technologies
  • Analyze data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvement and risk mitigation
  • Prepare and present reports on billing and collections performance to executive leadership
  • Manage relationships with external partners, such as third-party collection agencies and auditors
  • Lead change management initiatives to support business growth and evolving regulatory requirements, with a focus on the company-wide Quote-To-Cash transformation project

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in billing and/or collections, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Successful experience operating under an offshore staffing model
  • Proven track record of improving billing and collections processes and achieving measurable results
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities
  • Experience with billing and collections software and systems; familiarity with ERP platforms is a plus
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience with Workday accounting system is a plus, but not required
  • Experience working within an offshore staffing model

  • Hire, fire, supervise, train, evaluate, oversee, and provide feedback to staff
  • Ability to travel to Pune, India as required a minimum of twice a year

Salary Range: $170-$190K
